Map & search

How the map works.

Search, filter, check and report, all on one map. Here is each feature in turn. The drawings are illustrations, not real sites.

Each feature.

Filters

Narrow by area and by score (Pass, Weak, Drop). Type-specific filters appear when you tick a type, such as voltage for the grid or status for quarries.

Waste, solar and renewables filters. Tick Waste sites to pick historic or operating landfill, recycling centres or transfer and scrap yards, and set a minimum size. Possible solar sites shows farmland near substations and desk plots, each scored Pass, Weak or Drop. Renewable energy projects shows solar, wind and battery schemes from the national planning database (REPD), by status from operating to refused.

Only the sites that fit the brief stay on the map.

Building types

Tick one or more building types to show only those on the map and in the list.

One tap from barns to quarries to closed pubs.

Roof checks

Inside Plots, tick Good for solar or Possible asbestos roof. They are roof ticks, so one shed can be both.

Find roofs for panels or re-roofing.

Plots

Garden, infill and backland plots drawn on land-registry parcels, each scored with the reasons shown.

See why a plot passes before you visit.

Industrial

Estates, units, allocations and brownfield land, with an industrial suitability screen.

Industrial has its own finder with map, list, filters and search.

Saving and stages

Save sites to your list, add your own buildings or sites, and track each one's status from draft to follow-up.

Your shortlist and progress live in one place.

Reports

Constraint packs, feasibility, plot and concept packs, drawn by architects and issued as PDFs.

From a pin on the map to a finished report.
